1-Day WP Workshop History
1-Day WP Workshop is an outgrowth of Chicago WordPress Meetup Group regular meetings. A committee of members convened in August 2009 at a restaurant in Lakeview, on Chicago’s north side, and sketched out plans to conduct regular trainings to help WordPress users take their blogs and websites to the next level.
Dozens of Attendees Trained in WordPress
1-Day WP Workshop has trained dozens of Chicago WordPress Meetup Group members. Many have taken their WordPress website to the next level as a direct result of attending 1-Day WP Workshop.
Centralized Downtown Location
Originally, trainings took place in an empty suite at OfficePort CHI, a collaborative workspace for entrepreneurs and businesses, and now have moved on to a professional conference facility: University Center Conference Chicago.
Weekend Schedule – All Day
Saturdays are the best day for 1-Day WP Workshop events. The day starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 5:30 PM. A working lunch and 15-minute breaks in the afternoon allow attendees to receive about nine topics throughout the day. PowerPoints are kept to a minimum and most demonstrations are live in an actual WordPress website located on the Internet.
Attentive Style
Sessions are interactive and engaging with presenters and attendees sharing best practices, tips and experiences. It’s not uncommon for attendees to arrive with a list of questions and leave with even more answers.
Care is taken to “hear” each attendee and try and address their needs with a hands-on approach to empower each and everyone to take control of WordPress and not be afraid of it. Often topics can be switched around and revised based on demand.
